The Apricot Grove is a global collaboration of healthcare workers, scholars, artists and other interested individuals who come together to support human transformation and enhance global well-being through the study and practice of traditional medical knowledge.
Neijing Nature–Based Medicine is a comprehensive healthcare system, based on over 20 years of classical text research, based on the writings of the Huangdi Neijing, the original source text of Chinese medicine.
For over two thousand years, the Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic (Huangdi Neijing) has been the primary source text of Chinese medicine. Its writings give detailed descriptions of the cosmos, nature, and the human body. Many of its descriptions continue to be unrivaled in terms of their detail, grace, and power.
Chinese medical texts, such as the Huangdi Neijing, have been difficult to decipher and fully put into practice because of the complexities of classical grammar and the meanings of specific characters and texts. Classical Text Archeology is a formal approach to classical text research that retells the story of these early writings in revolutionary new ways.
Trained in both Western and Chinese medicine, Dr. Neal has been in clinical practice for over 30 years. He is the founder of the School of Neijing Nature-Based Medicine and the creator of the research methodology of Classical Text Archeology (CTA). In this role, he has served as a consultant to the World Health Organization and has been a visiting scholar in East Asian Medicine at the University of California San Diego Medical School.
Our goal is to train the most highly skilled Chinese medicine practitioners in the world by rebuilding our students’ practices from the ground up, based on an in-depth study of the original writings and practices of the tradition.
